[b:3139542df5] AWANA = Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed AWANA teaches kids that God is real, that He loves them, and that He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ. Kids also learn how God can help them in their daily lives. Lessons from the Bible teach them how to honor God in a sinful world. The goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. This is the end result, but the method getting there is FUN! AWANA club meetings are packed with life changing experiences. The clubs are run by trained leaders who have a love for the Lord Jesus Christ and a desire to help young people. The club materials are filled with verses from the Bible and guidelines to help kids memorize and understand them. [/b:3139542df5][/size:3139542df5][/color:3139542df5]

AWANA CAN AND BOTTLE DRIVE
General
[b:32ccba1dfa] Our can/bottle drive to raise money for the AWANA club in Peru is off to an amazing start. In the month of December, we raised $67.40 in just three weeks! Our goal in order to support the Peru club is to raise $20.00 each month for the whole year. If the response continues to be this incredible, we may be able to sponsor another group and even do some special things with the extra money. Keep up the good work! Remember, anyone can donate…friends, family, church members, neighbors…the possibilities are endless! (Please try not to “smash” any of the cans/bottles as this makes them un-returnable.) Hale's (Lithuania)
Missions
[b:ad2e0c9fe4]Mark and Michele Hale[/b:ad2e0c9fe4] Children: Joshua (5 years old) Contact info: Home: BBFI PO Box 191 Springfield, MO 65801 Field: A/d 809 LT 2055 Vilnius, Lithuania, Europe Email: mmhale@post.omni.lt [b:ad2e0c9fe4]Field: [/b:ad2e0c9fe4] Mark & Michele helped found the New Testament Baptist Church in the capital city of Vilnius, Lithuania in October 2000. Since that time, they have helped found 2 other Baptist churches, a 2 yr Lithuanian Bible Institute, and a 4 year Russian Bible Institute. These are no mean feats given that the Hales live and minister in a country that has been emerging from Soviet occupation (1940-1990) and moving towards political independence. The people are very nationalistic and fear and distrust religious groups. In addition to coping with economic decline, one may occasionally find active land mines planted by the Nazis during WW II. One of their major outreaches is to the local orphanage. Local officials have made two attempts in two years to close down the same orphanage. Their agendas are unclear but Mark and Michele genuinely love these children and wish to share the Gospel with as many as them as possible. Michele has been teaching a free English class for two years. The promise of improved English skills bring people in. Mark and Michele's tremendous hearts and witness helps allay their mistrust and opens doors to evangelism. [b:ad2e0c9fe4]Prayer requests:[/b:ad2e0c9fe4] ·Lithuania is a predominately Catholic country. The materialism and aggressiveness of cults have made Lithuanians suspicious of strangers and resistant to the Gospel. ·Henry & Gilija of New Testament Baptist Church recently set out to start a new Baptist church in Kretinga, Lithuania. Monks from the local monastery went out to warn the people about this "Baptist Cult." Because of this, they live in a borrowed apartment because no one will rent to them. ·Local officials to abandon their efforts to close the orphanage. ·Physical needs such as food, clothing, eye glasses, medicine, and the funds to repair the cold, leaky orphanage buildings

They work in an isolated land where living conditions are primitive and can be very dangerous at times. They travel great distances to preach and teach in small villages where people are killed by lions and crocodiles on a regular basis. AIDS, and malaria are rampant. Drugs and medical care are scarce. Bobby and Becky were in partnership with several pastors and churches from across the United States to host their VBS this summer. 5000 people were in attendance. 550 children and 686 adults received Christ as Savior during the three-day conference. The new focus will be on a ministry called "I AM." (International African Missions). God has impressed Bobby with a vision to reach beyond Zambia into all of Southern Africa. He will work to train nationals to reach nationals through evangelization, church planting, and discipleship. [b:01e8216adb]Prayer requests:[/b:01e8216adb] ·Praise!! Support is currently at 50%. They are planning to return to the field sometime this year. Living conditions are primitive and many areas are still accessible only by air. They are eager to return to PNG to continue the work among the Owininga people. There are approximately 1000 peoples speaking 862 languages. The Bible is not even partially available in even a fraction of these languages. Dean has 50% of the New Testament translated for the Owininga. While English is the official language and 96% of the people profess some measure of Christianity, the lack of complete scriptures, accurate teaching and discipleship has resulted in disillusionment or apathy, cults, and corruption of the Gospel with animism and the traditional tribal ways. The recent increase in wealth from the sale of sandal wood has not increased the standard of living in the area but has promoted only public drunkenness. Dean & Loretta are currently working at the New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, WI mentoring nearly 200 students and raising support for their return to Papau New Guinea.
